The real story of astronaut Ben (Benjamin) Anderson

In January 1978 Ben Anderson was selected from 8079 applicants for the Space Shuttle program. The training for the 35 astronaut candidates (including the first six women in the U.S. space history) began in the fall of 1978 and was completed after one year.
In the spring of 1983 Benjamin Anderson was set up as pilot of the flight STS-41-C. The one-week mission took place in April the following year. The main task was to capture the defective solar observation satelliteSolarMax. For the first time rescue came the jet backpack MMU is used, which is well proven. The research platform was previously LDEF (Long Duration Exposure Facility) exposed.
Benjamin, who his friends simply called "Ben", was already responsible for nine months after its maiden flightwith the execution of another mission. As commander, he stood before STS-51-L. After release of the secondcommunications satellite TDRS-series ten hours after the start should be observed near the Earth is thedividend exploiting Halley. This was the Spartan satellite on board, should be discontinued on the third flight day, at least 40 hours to observe the comet to undisturbed. When the shuttle on 28 January 1986, started thisjust blew up 73 seconds later. To date, the cause is unknown. Maybe Ben Anderson knew too much wassacrificed, and therefore by the Government.

  1. Well, I personally thought that the movie was quite interesting and a bit scary. To know that the US government was behind all this is the scariest part. Astronaut John couln't make a wise and rational decision since he became confused with all the details to this horror mission. NASA is explaining to him that Ben was infected, so, hence, he must be left behind. John couldn't understand what the infection was all about. On top of this, to leave a fellow shipmate behind purposely, especially when he is inside of an approaching space capsule that is going to dock with his. And Nate being left behind was all too confusing for him.

What would be the circumstances that would legally allow an astronaut to leave a fellow shipmate behind?

    1. Technically, legally, official policy is to qauruntine and refuse re-entry to any person, orbiter, vehicle which has become or has had any sort of contact with any kind of bacterial, microbial etc...lifeform which would pose a danger to any life on Earth. Because there would be zero immunity to it, in any animal species on our planet. Look, the movie makes for good science fiction. But that said space exploration is dangerous, these men and women who go into space, know that up front. That fact is not hidden from them whatsoever. Despite and contrary to what some conspiracy theorists would have us all believe when they go up, they know, they may never come back down. Even the late Krista Mcauliff (teacher who died in challenger tragedy) knew that was a very real possibility when she got on board that spacecraft..

  4. The movie was in the vein of "The Fourth Kind"-Hollywood pedaling fiction for fact. I was somewhat disappointed in the way it was shoot. It was pretty obvious that the movie would have been impossible to shoot from the perspectives that the director chose. As an example, shooting from behind both men while on the surface of the moon-neat trick. And on and on it goes.
PS: I thought the whole thing was pretty funny for a self billed horror flick.

    3. I'm leaning towards your theory, too Sven. I'm on a mission to see if I can debunk it, because I believe it's true and want to know whether it is or not, and I can't find a single bit of evidence that it's NOT true. The film maker did a great job at selecting parts of film that contained voices, faces and alien encounters all in the same shot. After careful analysis, it's apparent that the ONLY parts that Could've been altered were the voices from Earth, and the shots of the moon, and only the moon. So, the question is: Is this film 100% (as opposed to partially) accurate, or 100% faked? 'seems accurate is more likely.

To you who automatically think this couldn't be true, I ask you to consider this: We live in a world where bits and bites can do all the different things they do on a computer, a world where radio waves convert into voices thousands of miles away......, a world where microscopic viruses can kill large mammals...., a world with thousands of species in thousands of forms--from mammals to trees, to mountains "who" collide to form "The Matterhorn"..... So why on earth would you consider the creatures shown on "Apollo 18" unbelievable???

  8. Who knows how much of the story might be true. I personally believe that the government has and will continue to put a blind fold over our eyes. The reason is simple, WE DONE NEED TO KNOW. The general public is stupid, panicky, irrational and our own worst enemy. Telling the public secrets such as this would cause nothing but trouble. But, unfortunately, this was a movie shoot in Hollywood. Its simple. Wait till the end of the movie and watch the credits. The astronauts have real names, hence, they are actors. Plus, there is a whole film crew listed.

    1. Everything you said was stupid. You think the government should keep secrets from its citizens, when the USA is so called a democracy? Yes you might be panicky or irrational because you are a dumbfuck, but some of us are not. Did you seriously watch the whole movie and think it was real footage then look at the actors names and figure out it wasn't? That says it all. Your are the perfect citizen for the government we have now., someone who can be controlled.

  11. By the comments referring to the movie, I assume you all mean Apollo 18? Firstly I hate "found footage" horror films. They come off usually as cheap, and even harder to swallow than a slasher flick. As for the movie being true? Watch the credits, right near the end it clearly states that the movie is a work of fiction and any resemblence to real people or events is an accident. In other words - it is essentially a low budget horror flick in the same style as Paranormal Activity and the Blair Witch Project. All of which are fake, boring, and dare I say - retarded.
